Meliá Hotels International, in partnership with Grupo Puntacana, announced yesterday the signing of the Paradisus Miches, an exclusive new resort that will contribute to positioning Miches as one of the country’s next major tourist destinations.
Paradisus Miches will be Meliá’s eighth hotel in the Dominican Republic and its first in this area with great tourism potential. The resort will occupy a location facing more than 500 meters of pristine beach.
The resort will feature 600 rooms of different types, allowing for personalized experiences.
Located on the east coast of the Dominican Republic, Miches is undergoing a transformation and is surrounded by some of the country’s most unique natural landscapes.
Its verdant mountains, white-sand beaches, and iconic landmarks such as Playa Esmeralda (Emerald Beach), Laguna Limon (Limón Lagoon), Montaña Redonda (Redonda Mountain), and Salto La Jalda (La Jalda Waterfall) make the area a destination of high scenic and cultural value.
Its proximity to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), located an hour and a half away by road, enhances its accessibility and positions it as one of the areas with the greatest potential for tourism growth in the coming years.
During the announcement at the 2026 International Tourism Fair (Fitur), Gabriel Escarrer, President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, emphasized: “Paradisus Miches reflects the tourism model we believe in: respectful, innovative, high-quality, and committed to the development of destinations and local communities.“
For his part, Frank Elías Rainieri, CEO of Grupo Puntacana, underscored that “the alliance between Meliá Hotels International and Grupo Puntacana for the development of Paradisus Miches responds to a strategic vision aimed at strengthening the Dominican Republic’s tourism competitiveness.“
“This project represents a high-impact investment that consolidates the country as a reliable destination for international capital, raises the standard of the luxury hotel offer and contributes to the diversification and sustainability of national tourism development,” he said.
