Miches is having the highest hotel occupancy rate in the country in 2026

The tourist destination of Miches has registered a 95% hotel occupancy rate, positioning itself as the highest-performing destination in the Dominican Republic during the first four months of 2026, according to Tourism Minister David Collado. This performance is attributed to the opening of new hotel facilities and others currently under development.

The official indicated that a meeting is being planned in Miami at the end of June, where the destination’s current and future offerings will be presented to tour operators, travel agents and international airlines. The initiative aims to increase its visibility in source markets.

Authorities attribute this push to the need to diversify the national tourism offerings, given the high demand in other established destinations such as Punta Cana.

In that context, David Collado, Minister of Tourism, said that Miches “has been a complete success, maintaining a 95% hotel occupancy rate.”

He indicated that in the first four months of 2026, the new resort area had the highest occupancy rate in the entire country.

At the end of June, we will have a launch event in Miami, presenting Miches to the tour operators currently operating there, as well as those who will be coming in the future. Travel agents will be present at the event, and we are strategically inviting all airlines from Canada, the United States, and Latin America to learn about the destination,” he said.

He stated that the promotion of Miches is necessary because Punta Cana is always full, and it’s important to show that the Dominican Republic has other destinations to offer.
